Al Amin was among the businessmen who contributed to the country’s economic and industrial development, inscribing their names in letters of light in the record of الخير (goodness) and giving.

Born on 24 January 1949, he was known for his valued contributions to public service and his rich impact in the economic and social spheres, in addition to being regarded as one of the leading figures in charitable work in the country through his support and patronage of educational institutions.”

His death has also been announced and mourned by Sudania 24 (S24), El Nilein Insurance Co, Saudi Sudanese Bank, the political organisation TASIS SFA, politician Alamir Abdulrahman Alsadig Almahadi, and Sudanese Congress Party chairperson Omer Eldigair, among others.

An economics graduate of the University of Khartoum, he served as the supervisor (nazir) of his grandfather’s endowments, the late Sheikh Mustafa Al Amin, a Sudanese icon widely regarded as a pioneer of the country’s trade and industry. From the 1960s to the 1980s, his grandfather’s business empire played a significant role in Sudan’s economic revival.

He also served as director of the Sheikh Mustafa Al Amin (SMA) Endowment Schools in Khartoum. Alongside this, he was the majority shareholder and chairman of the board of trustees at El Nilein Insurance Co, Saudi Sudanese Bank, and Balad Bank.

Al Amin was based in Khartoum prior to the outbreak of war in Sudan in 2023, after which he divided his time between Cairo and Port Sudan. He is survived by his brothers, Mustafa and Othman Al Amin, who will carry forward their father’s legacy.
