
In recent years, the Sudanese music scene has flourished, with new musicians and fresh sounds emerging so quickly that it’s almost hard to keep track. Today’s scene embraces a vibrant mix of genres, as many artists modernise traditional sounds to resonate with younger generations both in Sudan and abroad.
In this new series, New Sounds of Sudan, we’ll highlight new Sudanese songs from traditional to contemporary, celebrating the evolution of Sudan’s rapidly growing music scene.
“Kuluna Alfashir” – Yasmeen Bit Kosti
Release date: 28 October 2025
Yasmeen Bit Kosti lends her voice to Al Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, in light of ongoing killing and siege by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The song begins with an emotional poem that salutes the city, and the track picks up with a percussion and melody that instills hope in the listener, with Yasmeen singing “Kuluna Alfashir” (We Are All Alfashir) throughout the song.
“BAHARY” – Maman ft MazMars
Release date: 26 October 2025
MaMan teams up with MasMarz in this jazz-infused, soft tune — flirty and romantic — that doubles as both a love song and an ode to his hometown, Bahri (Khartoum North). The track officially dropped on 25 August 2025, followed by the release of its official music video, “BAHARY,” on 26 October 2025. Produced by Issa and Assouad Novo, the stylish video features MaMan in sleek outfits, performing and posing for the camera in a creative “behind-the-scenes” concept.
“Ramz Al Dawla” – Taghreed Al Oshara
Release date: 25 October 2025
On the traditional side of Sudan’s soundscape, singer Taghred Al Oshara released a track saluting the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). Ramz Al Dawla translates to “National Emblem” and is often used in Sudan to describe the Sudanese army. The production of the track features notes of military fanfare that are woven in seamlessly, complementing the main theme of the song.
“Oumi” – Eman London
Release date: 25 October 2025
Eman London, 2000s icon for women’s music, returns to the scene with a new track called Oumi, which means dive (for women), in which she refers to a dance move done by women, typically during ragees aroos, a Sudanese wedding tradition where the bride dances for the groom in the presence of a strictly female audience. The track is dominated by traditional sound with dalouka (percussion) and call-and-response singing style with female background singers, resembling aghani banat, which is a style of Sudanese music for women by women.
COUPE (EZ9 REMIX) – LOADED&OZEE
Release date: 24 October 2025
Rapper duo LOADED & OZEE released their latest EP “INFECTION” in April 2025, with their track “COUPE” featured on the five-track EP. As a follow up to the EP, they recently released a remix “COUPE” featuring prominent rapper EZ9, also known as Ezzo.
“Fawq Al Jamouia” – Eman Al Shareef
Release date: 22 October 2025
Eman Al Shareef is one of the few consistent traditional musicians, releasing hit after hit, each with its unique sound. This track leans on the more traditional side, featuring classic Sudanese percussion beats. The themes of the lyrics revolve around her appreciation for Al Jamouia, a Sudanese tribe, and a man named Ghareeb Allah, who she previously sang about in her 2020 track, Al Jamouie.
“Al Jidey Warid” – Adnan Al Ameer
Release date: 22 October 2025
Adanan Al Ameer, a traditional musician known for his soft and melodic style of singing, explores a new direction with his newest track. The song has influences from music popular in the Gulf (GCC) region, but its pentatonic scale melodies give it an unmistakable Sudanese sound.
Aura – Santo
Release date: 19 October 2025
Santo, a young and upcoming rapper based in Tbilisi, Georgia, brings his unique flow and fresh sound to the Sudanese hip hop scene. Sampled from Grammy Award winning producer Frederik Thrane, and mixed and mastered by Santo himself, the track has a haunting and atmospheric quality, with piano and violin layers fading into and out of the beat.
“Foul” – Hleem Taj Alser
Release date: 18 October 2025
After his last hits Mercedes Benz and Domi with Freek, Hleem pursued a sonically different path from his usual chill Afrobeat sound. The track was produced by Libyan Algerian DJ Aloo and leans into fun Brazilian influences pumped full of percussion-rich energy.
“Location” – Soulja
Release date: 16 October 2025
After his last track Donia went viral across the globe, Soulja followed up his success quite soon with another potential hit. Produced by 7xusam, the track has influences of zanig, the percussion-rich underground genre of Sudan’s music scene. As a promotional tactic, the music video features Spanish footballer Lamine Yamal. Soulja also featured the track on his recently released video game “Run Soulja Run” that fans can play on his website.
“Absher Ya Janai” – Nazar Al Muhandis
Release date: 14 October 2025
On the traditional music scene, Nazar Al Muhandis embraces wedding music, releasing a song with zaghareed, celebratory ululations, with a percussion style typical for wedding party songs. The words revolve around a mother’s pride in her son, making it the perfect track for a groom’s henna party.
TNT EP – HAVEN
Release date: 10 October 2025
Rapper and producer HAVEN released an EP with four rap tracks featuring musicians MaMan and All Moony. Modern Western rap influences dominate the production of the EP, and HAVEN’s effortless flow in English and Sudanese Arabic is a refreshing addition to the modern Sudanese rap scene.
“Bitatyasar” – Hussien Elsadig
Release date: 7 October 2025
Hopeful themes engulf this track from beginning to end, from the lyrics that promise things will get easier, to the building heartfelt music. While the youth’s all-time favorite Hussein Elsadig leans away from traditional influences and into a soft contemporary sound, the flute melodies keep the song authentic to the true Sudanese sound.
“Bakhaf” – Mohamed Alfehail
Release date: 6 October 2025
Iconic singer and composer Mohamed Alfehail releases a track of his own production, featuring traditional percussion blended with contemporary guitar and piano melodies. His strong vocals are at the forefront of the track, bringing an emotional and passionate feel to the track. The new track was released with a AI-generated music video.
“Ainy Barda” – Aziz Alhadi
Release date: 4 October 2025
In this traditional track, Aziz Alhadi sings a song of passion and admiration over the famous Sudanese percussion instrument dalouka. Traditional Sudanese sound is all over this track, making it perfect for a wedding party.
MORPHINE EP – Montiyago
Release date: 3 October 2025
Rapper Montiyago released a new EP titled “MORPHINE” featuring four hip hop tracks, three of which have been released in July and August. The project features Palestinian producer Khayyat and Egyptian producer Big Moe, who are both part of the record label SVNBIRDS which Montiyago and fellow rapper Soulja are signed to.
“ALBORTOKAN” – EZ9
Release date: 2 October 2025
In a track produced by FLAC, EZ9, also known as Ezzo, samples Jeebo Lai Al Shaikh, a classic Sudanese hit. The track itself draws inspiration from Afrobeat and contemporary influence, and it comes together as a potential hit with EZ9’s effortless flow and catchy lyrics.
