In recent years, the Sudanese music scene has flourished, with new musicians and fresh sounds emerging so quickly that it’s almost hard to keep track. Today’s scene embraces a vibrant mix of genres, as many artists modernise traditional sounds to resonate with younger generations both in Sudan and abroad.
In this series, New Sounds of Sudan, we highlight new Sudanese songs from traditional to contemporary, celebrating the evolution of Sudan’s rapidly growing music scene.
“Batta” – Soulja

As a follow up to “Dayman” which was released a week before this newest track, Soulja collaborates with Mshakil for the second time in December to bring another upbeat track very much influenced by Sudanese party music. Leaving typical hip hop on the shelf, Soulja’s hits this year leaned more into tradition and less into Western hip hop.
“FTRA” – DAFENCII

In an unexpected twist, especially after his last hit “BAMA,” DAFENCII explores a rap style that leans more into melodic rap, his flow complemented by the melodies weaving in and out of the beat.
“Gal Lay Salam” – Eman El Shareef

In a track that feels like new beginnings, traditional music icon Eman El Shareef delves into a modern style of Sudanese music. From her soft singing to a style of percussion not typical for traditional songs, the song turns the page in the book of Sudanese music culture.
“Al Arees Sayyaro” – Sami Al Maghribi

On the traditional side of the Sudanese music scene, upbeat music icon Sami Al Maghribi released a track perfect for a groom during the wedding season. The song features traditional themes from dalouka, the Sudanese percussion instrument, to female background singers that give the track a deeper traditional feel.
“Dayman” – Soulja

Soulja and producer Mshakil come together to bring a fun, upbeat song to the contemporary soundscape. Resembling his recent hits “Donia” and “Location,” the song features influences of zanig, the percussion-rich underground genre of Sudan’s music scene.
“REDAH” – Veto, Colo, Msh3al

Following in the footsteps of other legends in the Sudanese rap scene, rappers Veto, Colo, and Mishal collaborate on a zanig-inspired track to display a unique perspective on romance in modern Sudanese music.
“Geddam” – Kordofani
Release date: 23 December 2025
Leaning away from his usual rap style, Kordofani explores dance music for this new track. The song production resembles a fusion of Afrobeats and electronic dance music (EDM), making it a fun, new approach for Kordofani.
“Al Sahla” – Gadoora
Release date: 20 December 2025
In his latest track, Gadoora explores a new style never attempted before in Sudan’s hip hop scene. Over a wavy synth-filled beat, he sings and raps melodically. Although the lyrics are raw and vulnerable, the track conveys beats of hope and optimism.
“Al Zekra Al Mnsyah” – hopesudan

Sudanese singer, songwriter, and melodist hopesudan, real name Aml Ali Sultan, delivers a soft, heartfelt, and vocally rich cover of Nour Al Jailani’s “Al Zekra Al Mnsyah“, which loosely translate to “forgotten memories”, dedicating it to the great artist and to everyone who has lost a loved one.
“Bel Ashwag Yijeek Mursali” – Mustafa Al Barbary
Release date: 18 December 2025
In a soulful traditional track, Mustafa Al Barbary sings of romance and longing. Mustafa’s melodic voice sails through the track’s soft percussion and flute melodies. Passion and emotion embody the whole song from Mustafa’s vocals to the instruments carrying it.
“GALO” – Lil Freeny

In an attempt to blend old and new, Lil Freeny samples Nancy Ajaj’s Shagi Wa Majnoon in his latest track. He flows smoothly over the hip hop track with layers of Nancy’s vocals floating in and out of the track.
“Kunta Bahlam Bek” – Abdallah Altayeb

Singer Abdallah Altayeb who is known for his energetic party hits and wedding performances leans into a softer side with this new track, exploring romantic themes interspersed with wistful violin melodies and slower percussions.
“Give Me Love” – JVBVLIYV
Release date: 12 December 2025
Asha Al Jabal released a new track under her new alias “JVBVLIYV” where she blends English and Arabic lyrics. This style of incorporating English into songs is not new for gonat, or female party singers, but JVBVLIYV is the first traditional singer to use this style with an afrobeat track.
“ALAWAL” – All-moony, Al Muayed

All-moony collaborates with producer Al Muayed to create a new track that resembles the Western trap genre. With lyrics filled with self-assurance and a steady flow, All-moony is slowly cementing his place in the Sudanese rap scene.
“3EEESH” – 7EVEN
Release date: 7 December 2025
Young rapper 7EVEN brings a unique flavor to the hip hop scene, with his new track, where he pursues a melodic rap approach. 7EVEN explores a more emotional, melancholic music style with this track. From his emotive delivery to a track that almost feels gloomy with its soft guitar tracks and stripped sound.
“Na8is (Nagis)” – Hyper, Cactus, Cymona
Release date: 5 December 2025
Produced by Cymona, this track was released by Hyper in collaboration with female rapper Cactus as a dedication to the people of Al Fasher and their ongoing crisis perpetrated by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The track has a somber feel, complimented by Hyper and Cactus’s moving delivery.
“Walgenic” – Walgz
Release date: 2 December 2025
In a track produced by Ntitled, Walgz explores a newer approach, with an almost stripped beat and minimal added tracks, and his voice front and center as he raps with transparency. The song is so raw, it almost has a freestyle feel with Walgz’s effortless flow taking the song from theme to theme.
“Ahly Al Kiram” – Huda Arabi
Release date: 1 December 2025
Huda Arabi, also known as the Sultana or Queen of women’s music in Sudan released a new song influenced by traditional music. The track starts off with Huda’s vocals strong in the intro, and the beat drops, with Sudan’s traditional percussion instrument, dalouka, at the forefront of the production. Much like most of her music, this song is perfect for a wedding party, with background vocalists, or shayaleen, letting their voices carry the track.
“Roogu Habba” – Mohammed Bashir
Release date: 1 December 2025
Never disappointing his fans, Mohammed Bashir does not stray far from his traditional upbeat genre. His latest track “Roogu Habba” exhibits the typical style of traditional music, with shayaleen singing in the background of the track. Fans are speculating about the meaning of the song, some stating that it references the recent falling out that occurred between Mohammed Bashir and singer Sharif Al Fehail.
“Ya Rahman” – Nancy Ajaj
Release date: 1 December 2025
With a vocal collaboration from Ahmed Al Neel, Nancy Ajaj blends traditional influences with contemporary productions to deliver a heartfelt performance dedicated to the people of Sudan who are currently suffering from the largest humanitarian crisis. The track starts off with an emotive performance by Ahmed Al Neel, and his vocals pour through the rest of the song as Nancy Ajaj’s voice carries the song from a soft track to a more energetic, hopeful beat, which is almost tribal in nature.
