SAMA Awards Al Rofaqaa Charitable Organization with 2026 Humanitarian Relief Award

The Sudanese American Medical Association (SAMA) named Al Rofaqaa Charitable Organization for Sustainable Development as the recipient of the Humanitarian Relief Award of the Year 2026 on 27 August 2026.

The award recognises organisations that turn humanitarian commitment into meaningful action, reaching vulnerable communities, responding to urgent needs, and working with local partners to deliver assistance where it matters most. It honours sustained commitments to grassroots humanitarian work, local coordination, community engagement, and accountability.

“Recognising commitment and local leadership, the Humanitarian Relief Award of the Year 2026 recognises Al Rofaqaa for its commitment, local presence, and partnership in delivering humanitarian assistance where it is needed most.Congratulations to Al Rofaqaa Charitable Organization for Sustainable Development. Thank you for standing alongside communities in need and for turning partnership into action,” said SAMA.

SAMA’s partnership with Al Rofaqaa has supported humanitarian programmes across Al Gedarif State, with a shared commitment to reaching communities affected by crisis and displacement.

During Ramadan 2025, Al Rofaqaa served as an implementing partner for SAMA’s feeding programme, supporting the distribution of 450 food baskets to internally displaced and vulnerable families.

When severe flooding affected communities across Al Fao locality in September 2025, the partnership continued with an emergency food response that reached 444 households and 3,031 individuals.

Behind these numbers was a strong local implementation effort. Al Rofaqaa coordinated with food suppliers and local authorities, managed transportation and field logistics, and supervised the distribution of food baskets across affected communities.

Humanitarian impact is not measured only by how many people are reached. It is also about how assistance is delivered. Through local coordination, community engagement, beneficiary verification, monitoring, and accountability, Al Rofaqaa has helped make humanitarian responses more informed by the realities and needs of the communities they serve. In Al Fao, the response brought together SAMA, Al Rofaqaa, local authorities, village committees, and volunteers to navigate challenging field conditions and help ensure assistance reached families most affected by the floods.
