GIAD Announces Sudan’s First Electric Vehicle Project

GIAD Industrial Group, one of Sudan’s leading manufacturers of automation machinery and vehicles, has announced its return to Sudan, alongside plans to launch the country’s first electric vehicle (EV) project in the first quarter of 2026.

The group’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Engineer Abdullah Abdal-Maarouf, confirmed that all preparations have been completed to reopen GIAD’s main headquarters in Khartoum, stating that the company is fully ready to resume operations and roll out new projects for the first time in Sudan. He noted that the move aligns with government directives encouraging institutions and businesses to return to the capital.

Abdal-Maarouf revealed that GIAD will introduce a range of new vehicle products, including trucks and fire engines, while highlighting Port Sudan as a key addition to the group’s operations, offering high-efficiency maintenance services, spare parts, and lubricants. He added that new models of sedan vehicles and buses of various capacities will also be launched, as part of GIAD’s efforts to support state institutions with high-quality vehicles at reasonable prices and low operating costs.

Meanwhile, the Assistant CEO and Director of GIAD Motors, Engineer Al Fatih Awad Abdullah, announced that Sudan’s first electric vehicle project will debut in early 2026. He described the initiative as a strategic boost to the national economy, citing its potential to reduce fuel consumption and significantly lower maintenance costs. In a step described as strategic to support the national economy by reducing fuel consumption and lowering maintenance costs, the group’s management confirmed that the project will be accompanied by the introduction of new models of cars and buses, as part of an expansion plan aimed at providing modern vehicles with high quality and reasonable operating costs.

According to a statement by the Sudan News Agency (SUNA), Abdal-Maarouf said GIAD has resumed operations in 18 locations nationwide, contributing to the reconstruction of institutions damaged during the ongoing war waged by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). He added that the group has implemented major contracts in River Nile, Sennar, and White Nile states, in addition to securing a contract to supply school desks for students in Khartoum State.
