In recent years, the Sudanese music scene has flourished, with new musicians and fresh sounds emerging so quickly that it’s almost hard to keep track. Today’s scene embraces a vibrant mix of genres, as many artists modernise traditional sounds to resonate with younger generations both in Sudan and abroad.
In this series, New Sounds of Sudan, we’ll highlight new Sudanese songs from traditional to contemporary, celebrating the evolution of Sudan’s rapidly growing music scene.
“AYWA (Mahbobi Safer)” – Binyam Yemane ft. Ali Naseraldeen – 54vibez

In this rare collaboration, Sudanese singer Ali Nasreldin, who is best known for his work with popular rapper Essam Satti, teams up with Binyam Yemane, a modern Tigrinya singer from Ethiopia, on a hit song that blends Sudanese and Ethiopian sounds with Afrobeat influences. The project is produced by 54vbz, a collective that brings together artists from across Africa, especially Ethiopia, to create some of the region’s most exciting contemporary music.
“Mashattat” – Jafar Amin
Release date: 28 November 2025
Following the release of Jafar Amin’s EP “Loop” in July 2025, he recently released a music video for his EP track “Mashattat.” The track is driven by R&B influences, which is a fresh take, introducing the possibility of a new genre alongside rap in the contemporary music scene.
“BAMA” – DAFENCII X YAD Oud

Produced by F-Sheezy and featuring a soulful oud performance from Bahraini musician YAD Oud, iconic rapper DAFENCII releases a song to honour his parents. With Arab style oud melodies and soulful piano forming the basis of the track, the song has a truly melancholic feel, portraying a softer side of DAFENCII.
“Rahalah” – Connan

Rapper Connan leans into a softer sound for his new track, pursuing a style of melodic rap over a beat with an atmospheric feel. The track is filled with synth melodies and distant background vocals that echo through the whole song.
“YA ZOUL” – Flippter ft. Soulja
Release date: 27 November 2025
In a track produced by Willywill, Flippter and Soulja collaborated to rap for Sudan. The track is melancholic, with lyrics revolving around themes of longing for Sudan and anger towards the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the turmoil they have enforced upon Sudan since the war broke out between them and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in April 2023. The music video compliments the themes of the song with videos from Sudan ranging from scenes from the revolution, to political turmoil and the ongoing war, to everyday life.
“2005″ – Mazin Peter
Release date: 25 November 2025
Rapper Mazin Peter released an Afrobeats-inspired track, with melodies influenced by early 2000s Western sounds. The song has a melancholic, nostalgic feel, which contrasts Mazin Peter’s gritty vocals as he raps melodically throughout the track.
“Mitain Al Raj’a Le Diyari” – Ensaf Madani
Release date: 25 November 2025
Following in the footsteps of other musicians in Sudan’s music scene, Ensaf Madani released a patriotic, nostalgic song, where she sings about her longing to return to Sudan. The track is rooted in traditional rhythms and percussions, and Ensaf leans into a softer singing style.
“Darfur” – Sheikh Altareega X Elaf Abdelaziz X Dawlh
Release date: 21 November 2025
In collaboration with producer Mshakil, Sudanese rapper Sheikh Altareega released his song “Darfur” featuring traditional singer Elaf Abdelaziz and Egyptian rapper Dawlh. Like all of Mshakil’s tracks, this beat seamlessly blends traditional influences with contemporary sounds, with this track drawing influence from western Sudanese music, which is typically highly rhythmic. Not only is the song about Al Fasher, but all profits from it are directed to the aid of survivors and displaced people from Al Fasher.
“Ma Tsheely Hamm” – Mazin Hamid X Kordofani

In a bold reinterpretation of Mahmoud Abdelaziz’s hit song from the early 2000s, Mazin Hamid collaborated with rapper Kordofani to create a contemporary version of the “Ma Tsheely Hamm”. The track is soft and melodic, with piano and oud at the forefront, layered with Hamid’s vocals and Kordofani’s poetic rap.
“Nasayem Omdurman” – Ayman Al Toum
Release date: 21 November 2025
This track leans strongly on traditional influences, with the traditional percussion instrument, dalouka, carrying the track, and Ayman Al Toum’s soft voice flowing in and out of traditional energetic melodies. The song is rooted in nostalgia about the city of Omdurman, but the lyrics tackle the theme in a hopeful manner, rather than a sad one.
“Baluma Leh” – JVBVLIYA
Release date: 17 November 2025
Under her new stage name “JVBVLIYA,” party music icon Asha Al Jabal released a number of tracks that lean away from her usual party music style and into a softer, more contemporary sound. One of the most recent tracks released is a short homage to Al Fasher called “Baluma Leh.” Under the pretense of advocating for Sudan, the song lyrics are edited into the music video in Arabic, English and Spanish.
“Biga Lek Bambi” – A.O.A
In A.O.A’s latest track, he leans into an upbeat feel, accompanied with a lyric video that portrays the same fun feel of the song. The song is filled with catchy lyrics and has already become a globally trending hit on social media platforms, specifically TikTok.
“Kabas Al Jaish” – Muna Abrouf
Release date: 16 November 2025
In light of recent army advances in Al Fasher and the rest of western Sudan, traditional singer Muna Abrouf released a morale-boosting song for the SAF in their ongoing war with the RSF. The song is filled with western Sudan style percussion, military fanfare and energetic melodies.
“Shal ‘Agli” – Ekhlas (Sukkara)

Bringing back the romance style from the early 2000s, singer Ekhlas, also known as Ekhlas Sukkara, released a track with melodies resembling songs performed by music icons from the early 2000s. The song almost has a nostalgic feel, with Ekhlas’s raspy voice blending effortlessly with the soft melodies of the track.
“Sennarana” – Hussien El Sadig
Release date: 6 November 2025
In this heartfelt track, youth icon Hussein El Sadig sings for Sennar, a city in the Blue Nile State in southeast Sudan. The track starts off slow, with his strong vocals building up to an energetic, upbeat rhythm that has brass sounds further lifting the energy of the song.
“Teelam Teelam” – JVBVLIYA, Mazin Peter, Shadow
Release date: 6 November 2025
Under her new stage name “JVBVLIYA,” Asha Al Jabal released “Teelam Teelam,” a song revolving around the humanitarian crisis happening in Al Fasher, in the west of Sudan. The track has hopeful melodies and features a moving rap performance by Mazin Peter.
“Da’a Minni Telefona” – Fathi Ahmed
Release date: 4 November 2025
On the more upbeat, traditional side, Fathi Ahmed sings over an energetic track, with playful violins leading the song. The song is fun, with a rhythm that gets one to their feet. The lyrics match the feel of the song – playful and flirty.
“Al Fasher” – Ibrahim Mahmoud
Release date: 3 November 2025
Of the many music artists that sang for Al Fasher, Ibrahim Mahmoud was one of the few that leaned into a track filled with sorrowful melodies. His tender voice in this track tugs at the strings of one’s heart. The music video features his mournful performance, with videos from the siege of Al Fasher and the struggles of its people.
