The Sudanese American Physicians Association (SAPA) has issued a call for medical professionals outside Sudan to volunteer for its upcoming medical mission.
In early 2025, SAPA led critical emergency medical missions into some of Sudan’s most devastated and underserved regions. Amid widespread health system collapse caused by conflict and displacement, SAPA’s teams delivered urgent care, helped re-establish life-saving health services, and offered a renewed sense of hope where healthcare access had vanished.
These missions are conducted in alignment with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Emergency Medical Teams (EMT) standards, ensuring quality, coordination, accountability, and integration with the national response.
Based in Plano, Texas, SAPA is a non-profit organisation founded in 2019 to provide critical medical care, food supplies and shelter to the people of Sudan. Following the war in Sudan, SAPA has played a vital role in rebuilding and transforming lives. With a committed team of doctors and healthcare professionals, SAPA has tirelessly worked to enhance healthcare access, deliver medical aid, and foster community resilience. Their efforts have significantly impacted the region, bringing about positive changes and improving the lives of many in Sudan.
SAPA is preparing for the next deployment and are need of compassionate, skilled medical professionals and support staff ready to serve in one of the world’s most urgent humanitarian crisis.
Interested medical professionals should expect structured orientation and EMT readiness training, covering field security, clinical protocols, cultural sensitivity, and infection prevention; short-term, well-coordinated deployments with full logistical and technical support; and meaningful work, rooted in solidarity and evidence-based humanitarian practice.
