The Ministry of Telecommunications and Digital Transformation (MTDT) announced on 1 December 2025 that it is set to launch SudaPass, the country’s first unified national digital identity platform, as part of its strategy to modernise Sudan’s digital services infrastructure and establish a secure, reliable electronic verification ecosystem nationwide.
The platform will give citizens and residents a single unified digital identity that can be used to access both public (government) and private services. Through SudaPass, users should be able to log in once and access many services, enabling them to legally sign transactions and documents electronically, eliminating the need for printing or additional hardware.
SudaPass will act as a single gateway to both government and private sector services, accessible through a smart application compatible with a variety of devices, and activated via passport verification or facial recognition.
Key Features of SudaPass:
- Unified access to multiple services without the need for multiple IDs, credentials and passwords.
- Smart and secure activation through passport or facial recognition. Biometric or secure identification (for example via passport or facial recognition) to register and verify identity.
- Legally recognised electronic signing of document or e-signatures, allowing users to sign documents and contracts digitally without printing or physical signatures.
- Instant recognition by government authorities, banks, and private sector entities.
- Integration across government bodies, banks, private institutions — meaning one identity works for many purposes: government services, banking/finance, maybe health, and others.
- Rapid and secure validation of contracts and services.
- Free of charge for all users.
- A move away from “paper-heavy” bureaucracy: reducing the need for repeated paperwork, speeding up processes, and reducing risk of fraud or forgery.
SudaPass marks a strategic milestone within the Baldna platform, advancing the creation of a national digital identity that strengthens trust, enhances service efficiency, and facilitates seamless transactions for both citizens and residents.
The official launch date will be announced shortly.
